Most mornings, I’d wake up thinking how glorious it would be to do normal things with him each day, just savoring the ordinariness of shared life.

His mere presence seemed enough. I felt like there was nothing he could do that I wouldn’t be able to forgive.

Then one day I realized I was loving a mere shadow of the man he once was.

Could it be that I simply invented it?
